Sci-fi/fantasy Book-devourer and Cuddle-slut.

Curiosity killed the cat, so I suppose I've doomed myself by signing up here, eh? I haven't done a lot of dating, and that's understating the case. School took up a lot of time and effort, and I never found anyone interested in trying to distract me from it. I've always been an avid reader. I love science-fiction and fantasy, but there are fascinating reference and non-fiction books in my collection as well. My current favorite author is Eric Nylund, author of A Game of Universe and Pawn's Dream among others. Bradbury, Clarke, Asimov, Spider Robinson, Mercedes Lackey, Jay Lake, Tad Williams, Roald Dahl, and many others have my undying respect and admiration. I'm an indoorsy type, though I do enjoy getting away and immersing myself in nature for awhile. The work and school environment depletes me, tending to leave me craving color after awhile. Anything bright, anything vivid, to clear out the institutional grays. I'm shy, but growing more sociable every week. I have some interesting hobbies, like crafting movie prop replicas and custom-painting Nerf guns for fun and profit. I love to read, and my career goal is to become a published author. (What this means for you, of course, is that by hooking up with me, you will never gain dazzling wealth. ) My friends seem to find me entertaining and most folks tell me my sense of humor is wonderful. I'm too heavy for my own good, but I'm honest, gentle, and probably more afraid of you than you are of me. I spend a lot of time online looking at webcomics, prop-replica communities, and photo communities like Flickr. I call myself a geek rather than a nerd, though I'm sure there are several areas in which I qualify for nerd status. Even if you're just looking for a friend who can hold up his end of a conversation, I may be able to help there.
